Higher Leaf's 2nd Location is Opening Soon in Bellevue

Higher Leaf will open their second recreational marijuana store in Bellevue in early 2017. Construction on the new site has been underway since the fall and final inspections by the Washington State Liquor Control Board will occur within the next few weeks. The other Higher Leaf is located in Kirkland.

Higher Leaf will be the first marijuana store to open in Bellevue since February 2015, despite a recent Bellevue City Council ordinance limiting marijuana retailers in the city. Higher Leaf is the fourth marijuana retailer to open in Bellevue and is now the closest store for drivers leaving Seattle on I-90 East via exit 11A.

Higher Leaf in Kirkland is already the most popular store on the east side (per state sales data) and the 6th most popular store in the state. With the second location opening in Bellevue, Higher Leaf becomes the first multi-store chain to operate on the Eastside. The store’s street entrance is located next to the drive-through Starbucks on 156th Ave SE and is just down the road from the Washington State Patrol office.

The Bellevue location is a bright, open retail space with six points of sale. Visitors can park on site or take advantage of several area bus stops within walking distance. The new store will stock many of the same vendors currently available at Higher Leaf in Kirkland and customers can expect the same high level of service that they have come to expect from Higher Leaf and they may see a few familiar faces from the Kirkland shop.

“We believe in personal freedom and that we can create a retail marijuana store that is not only welcoming and fun, but one that is part of a state-wide industry that has high standards of quality and transparency,” said Molly Honig, owner of both Higher Leaf locations. “We hope our store is a fun place to visit, echoing the fabulous quality of other retail shops, restaurants and businesses throughout the Eastside.”

Higher Leaf was Kirkland’s first marijuana store to open in February 2015 after several City of Kirkland zoning changes. Higher Leaf opened with an 800 square foot space and relocated one year later to a new 3,000 square foot space in the same building. The opening of the eastgate location marks yet another major expansion.

In the past two years, Higher Leaf has also been proud to be a member of the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce and is probably one of the first marijuana stores to become a member of any Chamber of Commerce nationwide.

"As an organization dedicated to supporting the growth of our members, The Kirkland Chamber of Commerce is excited about Higher Leaf's upcoming expansion," said Samantha St. John the Interim Executive Director of the Greater Kirkland Chamber of Commerce. "We appreciate their community partnership and responsible business practices, and wish Higher Leaf continued success in Kirkland and Bellevue."

Higher Leaf has recently joined the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and hopes to play an active role in both organizations.

Higher Leaf Bellevue is located at 3079 156th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA 98007 and will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. 7 days a week. The store will announce more details about an official Grand Opening celebration on higherleaf.com later this month.
