DList Magazine's interview with Green-Theory's general manager Tera Martin published in the 2015 June issue. If you could define the "Green-Theory", how would you describe it?
TERA MARTIN: Who is Green-Theory:Green: is fresh, new, supporting environmentalism, tend to preserve environmental quality, lush, leafy, revitalizing, rejuvenating.Theory: a set of principles on which the practice of an activity is based, an idea or set of ideas that is intended to explain facts or eventsAt Green-Theory, we are dedicated to setting the highest standard in Washington cannabis retail and this is the “green theory” we are based on. We partner with the best growers across the state and follow a strict protocol to ensure that every step of production meets our high standards. We are committed to providing our customers with only the highest quality and safest products.
When was the first time you experienced cannabis, and what was it like? Did you enjoy it at first, or was it something you had to build a liking to?TM: The first time I experienced cannabis was on a recreational level. I developed a liking for cannabis through my struggles with breast cancer. The more I learned the more I enjoyedits benefits. That is the great thing about this plant; there is something for everyone. There are different ways to consume and many ways it can affect the way you feel. You can consumethe product and feel no psychoactive effects or you can a large amount. It all comes down to the to selecting the access point that is right for your needs.
Can you give any (legal) adviceon what can help the regulation of medical or recreational marijuana?TM: Just like any other new industry there are a lot of growing pains, and there will continue to be for the next few years or longer. I think the best advice that we have received is to play by the rules, take notesand communicate the challenges to the right people. Green-Theory has engaged in many associations, partnerships and collaborations to take the industry to the next level. We are an establishment that strives on a fair playing ground and with time that will come. I think that the industry's biggest frustrations come from people not being educated on the laws and where this industry has evolved. I am a medical patient working in the recreational side of the industry so I look for information on the products, what is in them, and what they do to me. In the recreational industries I am looking for a fair playing ground, laws that allow us to successfully operate a safe business for my staff and customers. We have a long way to go legally but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel.
INDICA• Short plants, usually under 6 feet, that have deep green leaves. The high from a quality indica strains leave you relaxed and euphoric. The stronger varieties will induce "couchlock” and put you to sleep. Great for appetite and pain relief.SATIVA• Light green leaves that are long & thin, the stereotypical marijuana icon. The high from sativa strains is often described as uplifting and energetic. They are great for daytime use and a favorite for focus and creativity.HYBRID• Provides the best of both worlds. Select sativas and indicas are crossed into super- strains that maintain the best aspects from both parents. Hybrids can be sativa or indica dominant with the effects to match.
